Submucosal Lymphangioma of the Stomach

Abstract
A lymphangioma of the stomach is extremely rare. Its pathogenesis is unknown and it is incidentlly found in most cases. Histologically, a submucosal lymphangioma is a thin-walled cyst, lined by flattened endothelial cells, containing-thin serous
fluid.
A rare case of a 63-year-old man with lymphangioma of the stomach is presented herein. He had epigastric discomfort during 3 months. Gastroendoscopy and upper gastrointestinal X-ray series revealed a ulcer lesion in the duodenal bulb and
incidentally a
submucosal tumor in the lesser curvature of the body of the stomach which was subsequently found to be lymphangioma after exploration. Subtotal gastrectomy and gastroduodenostomy was performed.
The rarity and pathogenesis of the lymphangioma of the stomach are discussed on the background of the literatures.
